14 Must-Watch Disney+ and Hulu Thrillers for Fall 2026
Finding a great thriller on Disney+ or Hulu has become considerably easier now that the two services give viewers access to everything from prestige FX dramas and serial-killer mysteries to Korean crime thrillers and supernatural horror. This fall 2026 watchlist narrows that enormous selection down to fourteen movies and shows worth adding to your queue, particularly if your ideal autumn evening involves a blanket, something warm to drink and fictional people making catastrophically bad decisions.
Hulu's presence inside Disney+ has also changed what people should expect when they hear “Disney streaming.” You can still find Marvel superheroes and Star Wars adventures, but sitting beside them are adult crime dramas involving serial killers, political corruption, drugs, murder, psychological obsession and occasionally vampires attempting to seize political power. Mickey Mouse has some extremely intense neighbours these days.
Fall 2026 is particularly strong. Made in Korea returns in September for another battle between political ambition and revenge, City of Blood imagines a climate-ravaged Berlin where vampires control organised crime, and American Horror Story finally reaches its wonderfully appropriate thirteenth instalment. Meanwhile, FX's The Shards continues its sinister journey through 1980s Los Angeles as summer gives way to autumn.

I have also included several recent Hulu and Disney+ thrillers that arrived earlier in 2026 because a good fall watchlist should not be restricted by an arbitrary release date. Emmy Rossum's Furious is one of the year's most interesting serial-killer dramas, while Paradise, The Testaments and A Thousand Blows remain excellent choices if you somehow missed them first time around.
The result covers crime thrillers, psychological mysteries, dystopian drama, horror, detective stories and several shows that sit comfortably between genres. Some are perfect weekend binges; others deserve to be watched slowly as their mysteries unfold.
So turn down the lights, prepare to become suspicious of every character introduced within the first ten minutes and make room on your autumn watchlist. Let’s get into it 👇

13. Betrayal: Dirty Secrets

True-crime television is hardly relaxing autumn viewing, but Betrayal: Dirty Secrets earns its place because it understands that the most frightening revelations are sometimes hidden inside seemingly ordinary relationships. The fourth season of Hulu's Betrayal anthology arrived in August 2026 and follows Karoline Borega as she discovers disturbing truths about the man she believed she knew.
Rather than constructing the story like a conventional fictional thriller, the series uses firsthand accounts and investigative material to examine the collapse of a family after a carefully concealed double life comes into view. Karoline and her daughter Nicole become central voices as the consequences extend beyond infidelity into abuse of authority, trust and long-term emotional damage. Because each Betrayal season tells a separate story, newcomers can begin here without homework.
What keeps it from feeling like disposable true crime is the attention given to the people left behind. The series is less interested in creating a charismatic villain than examining what deception does to everybody forced to rebuild afterwards.
If your fall viewing tends toward documentaries, real-life mysteries and stories about secrets hiding inside apparently normal homes, this is a compact and unsettling choice.
Where to watch: Stream Betrayal: Dirty Secrets on Hulu and through Hulu on Disney+ where available.

12. The One Shot

I am always interested when a thriller takes a familiar competition format and starts making it feel slightly dangerous. Hulu Original The One Shot continues into early September 2026, using pressure, ambition and increasingly difficult decisions to create the sort of tension that works well when you want something different from another straightforward murder investigation.
The series places its characters inside an environment where one opportunity can completely change their futures. As the competition tightens, personal relationships and carefully managed public identities become harder to maintain, leaving contestants to decide how much they are prepared to sacrifice for the chance they have been chasing. The psychological pressure becomes more interesting than the competition itself.
This ranks lower because there are much darker and more substantial thrillers ahead, but variety matters in a list like this. Not every tense show needs an FBI agent staring at photographs pinned to a wall while somebody plays ominous cello music in the background.
If you enjoy competition stories with psychological tension, ambition and interpersonal drama, this makes a useful change of pace before the heavier titles begin.
Where to watch: Stream The One Shot on Hulu and Disney+ in supported territories.

11. Flex X Cop: Season 2

Sometimes you do not want your crime drama to be relentlessly grim. Flex X Cop understands that a murder investigation can still have personality, and Season 2 returns in September with Ahn Bo-hyun back as Jin Isoo, the wealthy heir whose unconventional methods have somehow turned him into a surprisingly capable police officer.
After completing a demanding spell at the police academy, Isoo returns as a fully fledged cop expecting to prove himself. Instead, he discovers that his former drill instructor Joo Hyera is now leading the violent-crimes team and, even worse from his perspective, has become his new partner. Their clashes unfold alongside serious investigations, allowing the show to bounce between procedural mystery, action and character comedy.
The fun comes from Isoo being genuinely useful while remaining completely unlike the detectives around him. Money, confidence and connections can open doors that normal police work cannot, but the series is smart enough to make him earn the respect he wants.
If you enjoy Korean crime dramas but want something lighter than the darkest serial-killer shows, Flex X Cop is an excellent fall binge. It gives you cases and action without making every episode emotionally exhausting.
Where to watch: Stream Flex X Cop Season 2 on Disney+ and Hulu, with new episodes throughout September.
10. A Thousand Blows: Season 2

Steven Knight apparently looked at Victorian London and decided it needed even more bruises. A Thousand Blows Season 2 takes viewers back into the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing, organised crime and the Forty Elephants, with Malachi Kirby, Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty returning to a story where survival rarely comes without a price.
Hezekiah Moscow has fallen from the promise that once surrounded him and finds himself pushed into underground fighting. Sugar Goodson is deteriorating through alcohol, while Mary Carr has lost her position at the head of the Forty Elephants and must work out how to reclaim power in a world that punishes weakness immediately. Their separate struggles gradually pull them back toward one another.
The crime elements are why I think it belongs on a thriller watchlist rather than simply being labelled period drama. Knight builds tension around shifting loyalties, violence and people constantly calculating who might betray them next.
Erin Doherty remains particularly magnetic as Mary Carr, while Stephen Graham can make a quiet conversation feel like somebody is about to lose several teeth.

9. The Testaments

Few television worlds are more naturally suited to autumn than Gilead, although “suited” might be generous when the atmosphere involves oppression, surveillance and enough anxiety to make you appreciate your sofa. The Testaments continues the universe of The Handmaid's Tale, drawing from Margaret Atwood's sequel novel while shifting attention toward a younger generation living under the regime.
The story moves years beyond the events that originally introduced viewers to Gilead. New young women grow up inside a society where control has become normalised, while familiar structures of power continue shaping every relationship and decision. The series explores what happens when people who barely remember the world before Gilead begin questioning the system they have inherited.
Its thriller qualities come from surveillance and political danger rather than conventional murder mystery mechanics. A conversation, friendship or forbidden piece of information can carry enormous consequences when everybody is being watched.
If you prefer dystopian thrillers with political themes and slow-building dread, this remains one of Hulu's most substantial dramas. It is not cheerful viewing, but autumn television has never required everybody to have a nice time.
Where to watch: Stream The Testaments on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.
8. The Drop: A Snowfall Saga

Returning to the world of Snowfall was always going to be risky because the original series left such a distinctive mark. The Drop: A Snowfall Saga earns its existence by moving forward rather than simply trying to recreate Franklin Saint's story. Gail Bean returns as Wanda Bell alongside Isaiah John as Leon Simmons.
The series takes place in 1990s Los Angeles as Wanda and Leon attempt to rebuild their lives after the devastation caused by the crack epidemic. Their search for something better unfolds alongside the explosive rise of West Coast rap, creating a new criminal landscape where music, money, neighbourhood politics and old consequences begin colliding. Reinvention turns out to be considerably harder when history refuses to stay behind you.
Fans of Snowfall already know this world does not treat ambition gently. The new series has the opportunity to examine how communities changed once the era depicted in the original drama moved into another phase.
If you enjoy crime sagas where personal choices are inseparable from larger social changes, this should be one of your September watches.
Where to watch: Stream The Drop: A Snowfall Saga on Hulu from September 8, with new episodes airing weekly.

7. Paradise

Paradise has become one of Hulu's strongest modern thriller franchises because it takes a mystery that initially appears manageable and keeps expanding the walls around it. Sterling K. Brown leads as Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, a man caught inside a political conspiracy where even understanding the world around him becomes part of the investigation.
The story begins with the murder of the President of the United States inside a seemingly peaceful community populated by some of America's most influential people. Xavier quickly becomes central to the investigation, but every discovery exposes another layer of secrecy surrounding the community itself. What initially resembles a political murder mystery gradually becomes something much larger and stranger.
Brown is the reason the twists remain grounded. Xavier is intelligent and capable, but grief and responsibility make the mystery personal rather than merely another elaborate puzzle.
This is exactly the kind of show to binge on a rainy weekend because nearly every episode ends by changing what you thought you understood. If you enjoy conspiracy thrillers, political mysteries and science-fiction ideas hidden beneath prestige drama, Paradise deserves your attention.
Where to watch: Stream Paradise on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.

6. American Horror Story: 13

Reaching Season 13 feels wonderfully appropriate for American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology returns on September 24 with a three-episode premiere, and this time the number itself becomes part of the fun. The season brings back several familiar faces and promises connections to horrors the franchise has explored over its long history.
Exact plot details are deliberately being kept mysterious, but the promotional material points toward returning characters, familiar mythology and new terrors woven through the show's past. That gives longtime viewers plenty to speculate about while allowing the season to function as another extravagant mixture of supernatural horror, psychological thriller and camp. With this franchise, subtlety usually left the building several seasons ago.
That is not a complaint. American Horror Story is at its best when it commits completely to an idea, throws talented actors into increasingly bizarre situations and makes you wonder how the story can possibly become stranger next week.
For Halloween season, this is practically mandatory. Even viewers who drifted away from the anthology may find the thirteenth-season celebration difficult to resist.
Where to watch: American Horror Story: 13 premieres September 24 on FX and Hulu in the US.
5. City of Blood

A climate-ravaged Berlin divided by inequality would already be enough material for a dystopian thriller. City of Blood then adds vampires controlling organised crime and attempting to gain political power, because apparently the housing crisis was not stressful enough. The Hulu Original arrives September 16 with all episodes available together.
Sisters Bea and Phoebe were separated during childhood and grow up on opposite sides of a collapsing city. Chronically ill Bea lives in relative privilege beneath an air-conditioned dome, while Phoebe survives among the violence and corruption outside.
Their reunion ahead of a crucial election exposes a terrifying secret: vampires have embedded themselves inside Berlin's criminal economy and now intend to secure political power as blood becomes the city's most valuable currency.
That premise could easily become ridiculous, but the social angle is what makes it interesting. Climate inequality, organised crime and political manipulation give the vampire mythology something substantial to bite into. Yes, I regret nothing about that sentence.
If you want a fall thriller that mixes dystopian science fiction, horror and crime rather than another conventional detective story, put this high on your list.
Where to watch: Stream all episodes of City of Blood on Hulu and Disney+ from September 16.

4. Only Murders in the Building

Sometimes autumn needs a murder mystery that lets you sleep afterwards. Only Murders in the Building remains one of Hulu and Disney+'s best comfort-thrillers because Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez have turned Charles, Oliver and Mabel into the sort of amateur investigators I would happily follow through increasingly absurd homicide cases forever.
The basic formula remains irresistible: somebody dies, the trio becomes obsessed with solving the murder, a podcast inevitably becomes involved and approximately every resident or visitor connected to the Arconia behaves suspiciously. What prevents the series becoming repetitive is the friendship underneath the mystery. Charles, Oliver and Mabel have gradually become a strange little family, which makes the danger matter more.
The comedy also provides exactly the right contrast to darker titles on this list. You still get clues, suspects, secrets and twists, but nobody requires you to spend eight episodes contemplating the complete collapse of civilisation.
If your idea of fall television means cozy mysteries, New York apartments and a whodunit you can discuss after every episode, this remains essential.
Where to watch: Stream Only Murders in the Building on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.

3. The Shards
Few new thrillers feel more naturally suited to late summer turning into fall than The Shards. FX's adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel premiered in August and continues into September, taking viewers into the seductive, deeply uneasy world of wealthy Los Angeles teenagers in 1981. Igby Rigney leads as Bret, with Homer Gere, Kaia Gerber, Wes Bentley and Evan Rachel Wood among the ensemble.
Bret is a seventeen-year-old aspiring writer attending an elite prep school while trying to understand his sexuality, friendships and increasingly obsessive imagination. His world begins darkening when a serial killer known as the Trawler terrorises Los Angeles and a mysterious new student enters his social circle. Bret becomes convinced the two developments may somehow be connected, although his own unreliability makes certainty almost impossible.
That uncertainty is precisely why the series works. Glamorous houses, expensive cars and beautiful young people gradually become sinister rather than comforting as paranoia creeps through every relationship.
If you like slow-burn psychological thrillers, coming-of-age mysteries and stories where atmosphere matters as much as answers, The Shards is one of 2026's most distinctive watches.
Where to watch: Stream The Shards on FX and Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.
2. Furious

Emmy Rossum hunting a female serial killer was enough to get Furious onto my watchlist; the psychological battle between the two women is what pushes it almost to No. 1. Rossum stars as FBI agent Alice Black opposite Lola Petticrew as Catherine Grace in Elizabeth Meriwether's dark Hulu crime thriller.
Alice is assigned to hunt a calculating female murderer whose crimes refuse to fit comfortably into the assumptions investigators bring to the case. Rather than hiding Catherine from viewers for an entire season, the series spends time with both hunter and hunted, allowing us to understand how their lives and obsessions begin reflecting one another. The result becomes less about discovering a killer's identity and more about understanding what happens when Alice gets too close to the mind she is pursuing.
Rossum gives Alice authority without making her invulnerable, while Petticrew wisely avoids turning Catherine into a theatrical television monster. Their restraint makes the increasingly uncomfortable connection more effective.
If you like Killing Eve, Mindhunter, serial-killer dramas and psychological cat-and-mouse thrillers, start here. It is dark, compulsive and exactly right for autumn.
Where to watch: Stream Furious now on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.

1. Made in Korea: Season 2

Made in Korea takes my No. 1 spot because Season 2 has the combination I want most from a fall thriller: crime, political power, revenge and two intelligent enemies who have had nine years to become even more dangerous. Hyun Bin's Baek Kitae and Jung Woo-sung's Jang Geonyoung return on September 9, and their unfinished conflict now carries far greater consequences.
Kitae is no longer simply climbing toward power. After framing Geonyoung, he has become Deputy Director of the KCIA while expanding his criminal interests and influence across the region. Geonyoung has spent years waiting for an opportunity to retaliate, and the political instability surrounding them finally gives him his opening. Their confrontation threatens institutions, businesses and everybody unfortunate enough to become useful to either man.
What makes this more exciting than a straightforward revenge drama is that both characters understand how power actually works. Winning does not mean being stronger in a fight; it means controlling information, institutions and people before your opponent realises what you have done.
For crime-thriller fans, Korean drama viewers and anyone looking for a serious binge this fall, this is the Disney+/Hulu release I would prioritise.
Where to watch: Stream Made in Korea Season 2 on Disney+ and Hulu from September 9.

Conclusion
Disney+ and Hulu have become surprisingly good places to spend fall if your viewing habits get darker with the weather. City of Blood brings vampires and dystopian politics, American Horror Story handles Halloween, The Shards provides psychological unease and Only Murders in the Building gives you a much-needed cozy mystery when the serial killers become exhausting.
For crime fans, Furious is essential. Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew turn the FBI-versus-killer premise into something more psychologically interesting than another routine procedural, while The Drop and A Thousand Blows are better choices if you prefer crime stories shaped by larger communities and periods of social change.
My No. 1 remains Made in Korea Season 2. The nine-year gap inside its story gives Kitae and Geonyoung's renewed battle real weight, and combining revenge with intelligence agencies, organised crime and political instability makes the stakes considerably larger than a normal cat-and-mouse thriller.
The biggest surprise is simply how varied the combined Disney+/Hulu thriller catalogue has become. You could spend the entire autumn here without watching the same kind of story twice.
What would you rank differently, and which thriller are you watching first?

FAQs About Disney+ and Hulu Thrillers for Fall 2026
1. What is the best Hulu thriller to watch in fall 2026?
Made in Korea Season 2 is my strongest new fall recommendation, particularly for viewers who enjoy political thrillers and Korean crime dramas. It returns September 9 and follows the renewed battle between powerful KCIA figure Baek Kitae and prosecutor Jang Geonyoung after nine years of growing resentment and ambition.
2. What new Hulu thrillers are coming in September 2026?
September brings an unusually strong thriller lineup. Made in Korea Season 2 arrives September 9, City of Blood premieres September 16 and American Horror Story: 13 begins September 24. The Drop: A Snowfall Saga also premieres September 8 for viewers who prefer grounded crime drama.
3. What is the best serial-killer series on Hulu in 2026?
Furious is one of the strongest choices. Emmy Rossum plays FBI agent Alice Black, who hunts Catherine Grace, a calculating female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. The series spends time with both women, turning the investigation into an increasingly uncomfortable psychological cat-and-mouse game.
4. Is The Shards streaming on Hulu and Disney+?
Yes. FX's The Shards streams through Hulu in the United States and Disney+ in the UK. The nine-episode series premiered in August 2026 and continues into September, making its dark 1980s Los Angeles setting and serial-killer mystery particularly good early-fall viewing.
5. What Disney+ thriller should I watch for Halloween 2026?
American Horror Story: 13 is the obvious Halloween choice, beginning September 24 with a three-episode premiere. If you want something different, City of Blood mixes vampire horror with dystopian crime, while The Shards provides slower psychological dread and a serial-killer mystery.
6. Is City of Blood a vampire series?
Yes, although the vampires are only part of the premise. The series takes place in a climate-ravaged future Berlin where organised crime dominates everyday life and blood has become a valuable currency. Two estranged sisters discover that vampires are attempting to convert their criminal influence into political power.
7. What is a good Disney+ crime show to binge this fall?
Made in Korea is the strongest choice if you want serious political crime, while Flex X Cop provides a lighter Korean detective series. Only Murders in the Building is ideal for cozy-mystery fans, and Furious is the pick for viewers wanting something considerably darker.
8. Is Only Murders in the Building a thriller?
It is primarily a mystery comedy, but its murder investigations, suspects and ongoing mysteries make it an excellent lighter addition to a thriller-heavy fall watchlist. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez provide enough comedy to keep the series comforting even when the trio are investigating another suspicious death.
9. Can I watch Hulu shows on Disney+?
Hulu programming is increasingly integrated with Disney+ in supported markets and subscription arrangements, while many Hulu and FX originals stream through Disney+ internationally. Exact availability can vary by country and subscription tier, so checking the individual title in your local Disney+ or Hulu catalogue remains the safest option.
10. What should I watch after Furious?
Try The Shards if you want another psychological thriller involving a serial killer, particularly if you prefer slow-building paranoia to a traditional FBI procedural. Made in Korea is better for political crime, while Paradise is the strongest choice if you want a conspiracy mystery with a science-fiction edge.
