Upcoming Guy Ritchie Movies and TV Shows: What Is Confirmed and What Comes Next

16 min read

If you are looking for the next Guy Ritchie movie or television series, the answer depends on whether you want a finished film with a date, a returning streaming show or a project still taking shape. His current slate ranges from an aristocratic thriller starring Benedict Cumberbatch to new chapters of The Gentlemen and Young Sherlock, with another London crime drama in development.

Ritchie's work has moved between sharply dressed criminals, Victorian detectives, large-scale action and family-friendly adventure. The director of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films has also become increasingly active in television. That does not mean he directs every episode of every show carrying his name: his role can be creator, writer, executive producer, director or a combination of those jobs.

This guide separates those roles and explains the story or premise of each project using the information available on 26 October 2026. Where a plot has not been announced, we say so. A show can be renewed without having a release date, and a project in development is not necessarily guaranteed to reach the screen. Release dates and distribution plans can change, especially between the United States and the UK.

The most concrete upcoming film is Wife and Dog, currently listed for a February 2027 US theatrical release. Viva La Madness has been filmed, with Jason Statham leading a crime story based on a J.J. Connolly novel. On television, The Gentlemen and Young Sherlock have new seasons in production, while MobLand has been renewed for a third season and Capital remains in early development.

Rather than invent a ranking for projects nobody can watch yet, we have organised this as a practical guide to what has actually been announced. You will find the premise, people involved, current status, viewing information and the questions each production still needs to answer. Let’s get into it

Wife and Dog: A Deadly Fight Over a Family Fortune

Wife and Dog takes viewers into a wealthy British family whose fight over succession turns increasingly dangerous. The Fairbanks and the people around them are drawn into a world of greed, betrayal and murder as questions of inheritance become questions of survival. Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins lead the announced cast, with Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton and Paddy Considine also appearing. Ritchie wrote and directed the film, returning to the intersection of privilege and criminal behaviour that has proved fertile ground in his earlier work.

The publicly available synopsis is still brief, so it is important not to assign motives or character relationships that the filmmakers have not confirmed. The teaser presents a powerful family, an atmosphere of threat and images that suggest revenge, but it does not explain every alliance. That restraint leaves the central mystery intact: who controls the family fortune, who believes they have been wronged and how far will anyone go to change the outcome?

For viewers who enjoyed The Gentlemen, the attraction is obvious. Ritchie has repeatedly explored the gap between respectable appearances and the deals that protect wealth. A country house or a carefully arranged dinner can look civilised while the people inside it are making ruthless calculations. Wife and Dog appears to offer that contrast within a family rather than simply using the aristocracy as a backdrop for a criminal outsider.

Cumberbatch is particularly interesting casting for a story that pairs wealth and status with the threat of violence. Here, the opportunity is to place a performer associated with controlled, cerebral characters in a story where power may be exercised more brutally. Pike and Hopkins bring very different screen presences, and the supporting cast gives the film several possible centres of conflict. The exact shape of those relationships remains to be revealed.

The comparison with a succession drama is tempting, but a family power struggle can move in many directions. The film may emphasise thriller mechanics, dark comedy or the emotional cost of a family treating inheritance as a contest. Its teaser suggests violence, but a teaser cannot establish the full balance of tone. The real test will be whether the audience can understand what each person wants well enough to care when the alliances change.

Rotten Tomatoes lists a US theatrical release on 19 February 2027, distributed by Black Bear. That date was moved from an earlier 2026 plan; it should not automatically be treated as the UK release date. Check local cinema listings closer to release. A streaming home and streaming date have not been confirmed in the sources used here.

Status:Upcoming film; US theatrical release currently listed for 19 February 2027. Ritchie's role:Writer and director. Best for:Viewers who enjoy British crime thrillers, family rivalries and an ensemble cast.

Viva La Madness: Jason Statham Returns to Ritchie's Criminal World

Viva La Madness follows a criminal seeking a way back from the Caribbean into London's underworld, only to encounter a dangerous network of old associates, shifting alliances and a Venezuelan cartel. Jason Statham leads the film, which Ritchie directed and adapted with author J.J. Connolly from Connolly's novel. Jason Isaacs, Camila Mendes, Vinnie Jones, Babs Olusanmokun, Ben Foster, Jonny Lee Miller and Raúl Alejandro are among the announced cast.

The premise offers a familiar question with room for a fresh answer: can someone who has stepped away from crime return without becoming trapped by it again? The Caribbean setting suggests distance from the life the protagonist once knew, while London brings him back into contact with people whose interests may no longer match his own. A conflict involving a cartel raises the stakes beyond a single local deal, although the exact details of the film's plot should be treated cautiously until the distributor releases a fuller synopsis.

The book has a connection to Connolly's Layer Cake, but the new film has been described as a standalone feature rather than a direct continuation of Matthew Vaughn's 2004 film. That distinction matters. Fans of the earlier film may recognise a literary relationship, but they should not assume that every character, event or casting choice carries across from the Daniel Craig adaptation. The safest way to approach Viva La Madness is as a new film drawing on a related source novel.

For Ritchie and Statham, the reunion recalls the early period when Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch introduced audiences to a distinctive mix of quick dialogue, criminal mishaps and overlapping interests. They have worked together since, and familiarity does not guarantee a repeat of any particular film's tone. What makes this project interesting is the combination of that established working relationship with Connolly's voice and a story that moves beyond one neighbourhood.

Vinnie Jones's involvement adds another connection to Ritchie's early crime films, while Isaacs, Mendes and the wider cast suggest that the film will have several competing personalities around Statham's lead. Those names are confirmed casting, not evidence of which alliances their characters will form. Until character descriptions are released, assigning a villain or a partner to each actor would be guesswork.

Trade reporting confirmed that production was underway in London in February 2026, and a production listing updated in October describes the film as being in post-production. Black Bear was reported as handling North American release, with Amazon MGM responsible for most international territories. A firm, widely confirmed release date was not available in the sources reviewed for this guide. Distribution rights also do not by themselves establish the date or service on which the film will stream.

The film should appeal to viewers who like crime stories built around competing deals and characters who cannot quite leave their past behind. It may also interest Statham fans looking for a different kind of ensemble from a straightforward lone-hero action film. Whether the final film leans towards comic chaos, tense negotiation or physical action remains to be seen.

Status:Filmed; reported in post-production, with a release date still to be confirmed. Ritchie's role:Director and co-writer. Where to watch:Distribution has been reported, but release and streaming details remain unconfirmed.

The Gentlemen Season 3: Eddie and Susie Expand Their Empire

The Gentlemen.webp

The Gentlemen began when Eddie Horniman (Theo James) inherited a country estate and discovered that the land was connected to a cannabis operation run by Bobby Glass's criminal organisation. Eddie's relationship with Bobby's daughter Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) developed from a wary negotiation into a complicated business partnership. After the second season expanded the operation and tested their loyalties, Season 3 is moving the story into new territory. Netflix has confirmed that production is underway in the UK and Morocco.

The appeal of the series lies in the tension between Eddie's inherited status and the criminal choices he makes once that status becomes useful to other people. At first, he has to understand a business operating beneath the respectable surface of his estate. As he becomes more involved, the question changes: is he a reluctant participant trying to protect his family, or someone discovering that he enjoys the power the arrangement offers?

Susie gives that question a vital counterweight. She has grown up close to the organisation and understands that loyalty, profit and personal safety are rarely separate issues. Her partnership with Eddie can be productive without being entirely trusting. Each needs to judge whether the other person's ambition will strengthen the business or create a threat that cannot be controlled.

Netflix has announced new cast members including Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone. Their involvement expands an ensemble already associated with shifting criminal alliances. The announcement does not explain every new character or relationship, so fans should wait for official character details before assuming who will be an ally, a rival or a victim.

The reunion of Wood and Bloom will attract attention from viewers who know them from The Lord of the Rings, but casting two familiar actors in one season does not establish that their characters share scenes. Fletcher's involvement is notable for a different reason: he appeared in Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Such connections are fun to notice, though the new season still needs to make its characters work for viewers who do not recognise the reference.

Ritchie created the series and is involved in writing and directing the third season alongside the wider creative team. Netflix says filming has begun, but has not announced a release date. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on Netflix; a subscription and local availability should be checked before watching. Season 3 is not yet available.

The most interesting question is how a larger criminal operation changes the relationship at the centre of the show. An expanded setting can introduce fresh characters and opportunities, but scale alone will not replace the careful negotiation that made Eddie and Susie's early scenes compelling. If the new season keeps their choices personal while widening the consequences, it could offer both the familiar British crime-drama pleasures and a genuinely different setting.

Status:Renewed and filming; no release date announced. Ritchie's role:Series creator, writer and director on the new season. Where to watch:Previous seasons are on Netflix; Season 3 is forthcoming.

Young Sherlock Season 2: A Detective Still Becoming Himself

Young Sherlock.jpg

Young Sherlock follows a younger Sherlock Holmes before he becomes the famous Baker Street detective. Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays Holmes in an action-oriented Victorian mystery that begins around Oxford and expands beyond it. The first season introduces a developing detective whose intelligence is already formidable but whose judgement, relationships and place in the world are still taking shape. Prime Video has renewed the series for a second season and says production is underway.

The returning cast includes Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes and Natascha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes. The relationship between Sherlock and Moriarty gives the series a way to approach a familiar literary rivalry from an earlier point. Viewers may know those names from other versions of the story, but this adaptation can develop their connection on its own terms rather than assuming every audience member expects the same trajectory.

That is the central attraction of an origin story. Sherlock is recognisable because of his powers of observation and his willingness to challenge assumptions, yet he has not necessarily learned how to use those abilities wisely. A younger version can make mistakes that a seasoned detective might avoid. The stakes are not only whether he solves a mystery, but what his choices teach him about trust, family and the consequences of being right too late.

Prime Video has announced Olivia Williams, Indira Varma, Sophie Skelton and Aidan Gillen as new series regulars. Their precise roles and the full second-season plot were not disclosed in the announcement. It would be premature to say which mystery they are connected to or how they will change Sherlock's relationship with Moriarty. The confirmed fact is that they are joining the ensemble, not that any particular theory about their characters is correct.

Ritchie directed the first two episodes of the first season and is set to direct the Season 2 premiere while also serving as an executive producer. Matthew Parkhill is the television creator and showrunner. That division of work matters: Young Sherlock is part of Ritchie's current screen slate, but it is also a series shaped by a team of writers, directors and producers across multiple episodes.

The first season's eight episodes are available on Prime Video. Amazon says the second season is in production and has not announced a release date. A Prime Video availability note is useful here, but it should not be mistaken for confirmation of when the new season will arrive or whether every future episode will launch at once.

For fans of Ritchie's Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films, the series offers another energetic approach to a familiar detective, but it is a separate production with a different cast and premise. It is not a confirmed third instalment of those films. Viewers who enjoy period mysteries with action and a developing ensemble are the most obvious audience, while those seeking a strictly traditional Holmes adaptation may find the younger, more adventurous interpretation a significant departure.

Status:Season 2 in production; no release date announced. Ritchie's role:Executive producer and director of the season premiere. Where to watch:Season 1 is on Prime Video; Season 2 is forthcoming.

MobLand Season 3: The Harrigans' Fight for Power Continues

MobLand.webp

MobLand follows Harry da Souza (Tom Hardy), a fixer whose job is to solve dangerous problems for the Harrigan crime family. Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve Harrigan (Helen Mirren) sit at the centre of a criminal empire threatened by rival organisations and tensions within the family itself. Paramount+ has renewed the drama for a third season, with Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren announced to return.

Harry's position gives the series a useful way into the family. He is close enough to see what the Harrigans need and dangerous enough to act on their behalf, but he is not protected from the consequences of their choices. A fixer is expected to restore order after someone else's mistake. When the people creating the problems are powerful, related to one another and unwilling to agree on a solution, that job becomes much more than a sequence of assignments.

Conrad and Maeve provide a different view of the same world. They have accumulated influence and are determined to keep it, yet family loyalty can make succession and trust more complicated than a straightforward business negotiation. An outside rival is easy to identify; the threat posed by someone who shares the family name can be much harder to confront. The show's dramatic tension depends on that uncertainty as well as on violence.

Paramount renewed Season 3 in September 2026, before the second season began. As of 26 October, Season 2 is being released weekly, so viewers looking ahead should be aware that the current story has not yet finished. The renewal announcement confirms the three principal returning actors but does not provide a detailed Season 3 synopsis or premiere date.

Ritchie is an executive producer and has directed episodes of MobLand. The renewal announcement does not establish which, if any, third-season episodes he will direct. Describing the next season as a show connected to him is accurate; claiming that he will personally direct its entire run would go beyond the available announcement. The series is also the work of its writers, other directors and production team.

The distinction between renewal and release is especially useful here. Paramount+ has committed to another season, but the broadcaster has not supplied a date viewers can put on the calendar. A story summary based on Season 2's ongoing conflicts can explain what is at stake without pretending to know how those conflicts will end.

The first season is available on Paramount+, with the second season rolling out on the service. Check local listings for the current episode schedule. For fans of crime-family dramas, the attraction is watching Hardy's fixer negotiate a world where a threat can come from the people paying him as easily as from their enemies.

Status:Renewed for Season 3; release date and detailed plot unannounced. Ritchie's role:Executive producer; Season 3 directing involvement has not been specified. Where to watch:Existing seasons are on Paramount+ where available.

Capital: An Early-Stage London Crime Drama

Capital is a proposed crime drama set in contemporary London, co-created and written by Guy Ritchie and Rob Williams. Reporting describes the project as exploring the city's criminal underbelly, with Amazon MGM Studios UK developing the series and Vice Studios producing alongside Jack Tar Pictures. Ritchie is attached to direct and produce. No cast or detailed character descriptions had been announced in the reporting reviewed for this article.

That limited premise is still enough to identify the project's broad territory. A modern London crime story could follow people making deals across different parts of the city, the businesses that conceal illegal activity or the individuals caught between rival interests. Those are possibilities, not confirmed plot points. The official details available so far do not tell us who the protagonist is, what crime sets the story in motion or which relationships will drive it.

Rob Williams's involvement is one reason to watch the project. He has worked on screen drama including The Victim and Suspicion, bringing experience beyond Ritchie's established screen partnerships. How the two creators combine their approaches will matter more than a familiar label such as gritty or stylish. A distinctive central character and a clear conflict would help Capital stand apart from the other crime series currently associated with Ritchie.

The project also raises a practical question for viewers already following The Gentlemen and MobLand: what would another London underworld drama add? The answer could lie in its perspective, social setting or tone, but none of those details has been described with enough precision to make a promise. It is reasonable to be interested in the creative team while waiting for a fuller announcement before deciding what kind of show this will be.

Development is an earlier and less certain stage than a series already filming. Scripts, casting and production plans can change, and a project may never receive a final series order. Amazon MGM Studios' involvement is meaningful, but it is not the same thing as a premiere date or a finished season. The most useful updates to watch for are a formal order, casting announcements, a confirmed production start and a synopsis that names the central characters.

There is no confirmed release date or viewing page for Capital. If it progresses, the distribution announcement will establish where it can be watched in each region. Until then, fans can follow the project as a potential addition to Ritchie's television work without treating it as an imminent Prime Video release.

Status:Early development; no cast or release date announced. Ritchie's role:Co-creator, co-writer and attached director and producer. Where to watch:Not yet available; final release arrangements have not been announced.

What About Other Guy Ritchie Projects?

Upcoming-project lists can become outdated quickly. In the Grey and Fountain of Youth have already been released, so they do not belong in a list of films still awaiting their first release. Their availability may differ by country, and viewers should check a current regional listing rather than relying on an old announcement.

There has also been long-running interest in another Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law Sherlock Holmes film. Interest in a sequel is not the same as a confirmed production schedule. Without a current studio announcement establishing a start date, cast contracts and Ritchie's role, it is more useful to describe a third film as uncertain than to give it a place on a release calendar.

The same standard applies to any other title mentioned in older trade stories. An attachment can change, a screenplay may remain in development and a proposed release can move. The clearest signals are a current distributor announcement, a confirmed production start or an official renewal. Even those do not guarantee that a date will remain fixed.

Final Thoughts

Guy Ritchie's upcoming work spans several stages. Wife and Dog has a listed US theatrical date; Viva La Madness has been filmed; The Gentlemen and Young Sherlock are making new seasons; MobLand has secured another renewal; and Capital is still being developed. Each represents a different level of certainty, even though all appear in conversations about what the filmmaker may do next.

The shared attraction is his interest in people navigating systems of power, whether those systems are an aristocratic family, a criminal organisation or a Victorian mystery. The differences matter just as much. A streaming series can give a partnership room to change over several episodes, while a feature film may concentrate its conflicts into a single inheritance battle or criminal deal.

Which project are you most interested in: the return of Eddie and Susie, a new Statham crime story, another chapter for young Sherlock or the family rivalry in Wife and Dog?
