Love in Bloom: 6 Irresistible Romantic Comedies to Brighten Your April

As we head into spring 2024, there's a lot to be excited about in the world of romantic comedy books. From heartwarming friends-to-lovers stories to hilarious fake relationships, April promises to deliver a diverse array of titles that will make you laugh, swoon, and fall head over heels in love. Here are six rom-com books that I'm particularly looking forward to in the coming month.

Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun (April 2, 2024)

Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun

Alison Cochrun, the author who dazzled readers with her debut novel "The Charm Offensive," is back with a sapphic romance that promises to be equal parts heartwarming and hilarious. "Here We Go Again" follows Logan Maletis and Rosemary Hale, former friends who haven't spoken in ten years after a high school altercation. Now in their thirties and working as teachers at their alma mater, they're forced together to fulfill their former English teacher's last wish: a cross-country road trip.

I'm excited to see how Cochrun explores the friends-to-lovers trope and the forced proximity of a road trip in this novel. With her signature wit and charm, I have no doubt that "Here We Go Again" will be a delightful and emotionally satisfying read.

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez (April 2, 2024)

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez (April 2, 2024)

Abby Jimenez is known for her heartfelt and humorous romances, and "Just for the Summer" looks like it will be no exception. The novel follows Justin, a man who believes he's cursed because every woman he dates goes on to find their soulmate after they break up. When he meets Emma, a woman with the same problem, they come up with a plan to date each other and break up, hoping to cancel out their curses and find true love.

I love the premise of this book and the idea of two people trying to outsmart fate. With Jimenez's signature humor and emotional depth, "Just for the Summer" promises to be a swoonworthy and satisfying read.

The Rule Book by Sarah Adams (April 2, 2024)

The Rule Book by Sarah Adams (April 2, 2024)

Sarah Adams is another romance author who never fails to deliver, and "The Rule Book" looks like it will be a delightful addition to her bibliography. The novel follows Nora Mackenzie, a sports agent whose first client is her extremely hot college ex-boyfriend, Derek Pender. Derek is set on revenge for their less-than-graceful breakup, but when a wild night in Vegas leads to them waking up married, things get complicated.

I'm a sucker for second-chance romances and the "oops, we got married" trope, so "The Rule Book" is right up my alley. With Adams' trademark humor and closed-door romance style, I'm excited to see how Nora and Derek navigate their unexpected marriage and rekindle their romance.

Teach Me by Neve Wilder (April 2, 2024)

Teach Me by Neve Wilder (April 2, 2024)

Neve Wilder's "Extracurricular Activities" series has been a favorite of mine since "Want Me" landed on my best romance books of all time list, so I'm counting down the days until "Teach Me" releases. While we don't have many details about the plot yet, we do know that it's a MM romance between a student and professor set in the same college universe as the rest of the series.

I'm excited to see how Wilder tackles the forbidden romance trope and the power dynamics of a student-teacher relationship. With her signature steam and emotional depth, "Teach Me" is sure to be a standout addition to the series.

Only and Forever by Chloe Liese (April 9, 2024)

Only and Forever by Chloe Liese (April 9, 2024)

Chloe Liese's Bergman Brothers series has been a delight from start to finish, and I can't believe we're already at the final book. "Only and Forever" follows Viggo Bergman, a hopeless romantic who teams up with author Tallulah Clarke to help her with her writer's block in exchange for her organizational skills to help him with his store.

I love the opposites-attract and roommates-to-lovers tropes, and I'm excited to see how Liese brings them together in this novel. With her signature humor, heart, and inclusivity, "Only and Forever" promises to be a satisfying and emotional conclusion to the Bergman Brothers series.

Funny Story by Emily Henry (April 23, 2024)

Funny Story by Emily Henry (April 23, 2024)

No list of anticipated rom-com releases would be complete without mentioning Emily Henry's latest novel, "Funny Story." The book follows Daphne, whose fiance realizes he's actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Stranded and heartbroken, Daphne proposes to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra's ex, Miles Nowak.

I love the premise of this book and the idea of two people finding love in the midst of heartbreak and betrayal. With Henry's signature wit, emotional depth, and swoonworthy romance, "Funny Story" is sure to be a standout addition to her already impressive bibliography.

Months after their heartbreaking goodbye, Missy Johnson and Quinn Matlock are brought together one final time, where love, family, and forgiveness leave them with only one choice—to stop fearing tomorrow and finally embrace the future they've always wanted.

Episode Summary

Time has passed since Missy Johnson and Quinn Matlock walked away from one another, but neither woman has truly moved on. Though life has continued, the space between them remains filled with unanswered questions, lingering hope, and a love that quietly refuses to disappear. When Quinn completes the Boston Marathon, she discovers Missy waiting at the finish line, proving that some connections are simply too strong to be forgotten.

Their reunion continues during the grand opening of Margaret's new restaurant, where family, friendship, and unexpected moments of humour gradually soften the pain both women have carried for months. With Louis Johnson determined to play matchmaker once again and Chris Johnson offering one final act of kindness that reminds everyone what unconditional love truly looks like, the people closest to Missy and Quinn gently help them find the courage they've both been missing.

When the evening finally leaves Missy and Quinn alone together, every wall they built begins to fall away. Honest conversation replaces fear, forgiveness replaces regret, and love finally becomes stronger than uncertainty. Episode Six delivers a heartfelt, uplifting conclusion to Girls Like Girls, celebrating acceptance, family, second chances, and the extraordinary joy of choosing the person who has always felt like home. Warm, funny, emotional, and deeply satisfying, this unforgettable finale reminds us that the greatest love stories aren't about perfection—they're about finding the courage to choose each other every single day.
