#12 — Milky White Summer Nails 🤍

Close-up of manicured hands with pale pink nails and a gold diamond ring, lit by warm sunlight on a blurred table.

Keywords: milky white nails, sheer white nail polish, clean girl manicure, minimalist summer nails, soap nails trend, glazed white nails, milky nails aesthetic, white gel nails, understated summer manicure, barely-there nails

Coming in at number twelve but absolutely nowhere near forgettable, Milky White Summer Nails are the kind of look that works with literally everything in your wardrobe. Think of them as the white linen shirt of the nail world — clean, effortless, and always appropriate.

This trend leans hard into the "clean girl aesthetic" that has been dominating beauty content across Pinterest and TikTok. A milky white or semi-sheer white polish — somewhere between a sheer nude and a full-coverage white — gives your nails a soft, ethereal appearance that looks expensive without being loud. Nail artists describe it as glossy and "clouded," giving nails a natural yet intentional finish.

What makes this trend so powerful is its versatility. It works on every nail shape, from short and square to long almond or coffin. It flatters every skin tone. It pairs beautifully with summer dresses, beach looks, brunch fits, and even office outfits. It also layers beautifully under chrome powders for an added shimmer effect, making it a perfect base for more elevated versions of this look.

The finish you are going for is a glass-like, glossy sheen that gives the appearance of healthy, well-cared-for nails. Apply two thin coats of a milky sheer white polish, seal with a high-shine top coat, and you have one of the most sophisticated summer manicures of the season.

How to get this look:

  • Use a milky sheer white or soft opalescent polish

  • Apply in two thin, even layers for that translucent effect

  • Seal with an ultra-glossy top coat for the glass-nail finish

  • Optional: dust a soft chrome powder over the still-tacky topcoat for extra dimension

#11 — Pink Aura Nails 💖

Two hands with glossy pink ombré manicured nails and gold rings, resting over soft pink flowers in a romantic close-up.

Pink Aura Nails are the definition of dreamy. This trend takes the concept of aura-inspired gradients and applies it to a soft pink base, creating a look that feels like a watercolor painting has been gently pressed onto each nail. It is soft, romantic, and impossibly photogenic.

The technique behind aura nails involves blending two or more soft pink tones — think pale rose, dusty mauve, and peach — directly on the nail in a hazy, diffused gradient that fades at the edges. The result is a glowing, almost otherworldly effect that looks like your nails have their own inner light source. The edges stay soft and blurry rather than sharp, giving a cloud-like quality that sets this apart from a traditional ombre.

On Pinterest, aura nails exploded in the last twelve months. The keyword "pink aura nails" has tens of thousands of monthly saves. The look is particularly popular in the pastel pink family, with creators pairing it with light rose, blush, and warm peach tones for a sunset-flush effect.

This style is stunning on medium to long nails — almond and oval shapes especially — and it looks incredible with gold jewelry. If you are going to a summer wedding, a garden party, or even just want to look effortlessly elevated on a regular Tuesday, Pink Aura Nails deliver every time.

How to get this look:

  • Start with a sheer pink or nude base coat

  • Apply a deeper rose or dusty pink to the center of the nail

  • Use a clean brush or sponge to blend outward in soft circular strokes

  • Seal with a glossy or matte top coat depending on the finish you prefer

  • For a salon-level look, ask your nail technician for a "blooming gel" technique

#10 — Watermelon Nail Art 🍉

Hands with bright watermelon nail art held over a picnic scene with sliced watermelon, daisies, and a green checkered cloth

This one is pure joy in nail form. Watermelon Nail Art sits at number ten because while it is undeniably adorable and incredibly popular, it is a seasonal specialty rather than a year-round essential. But for summer? It is a superstar.

The design typically plays with the classic green and red-pink colour palette of the fruit, often incorporating tiny painted black seeds, green stripes along the tips, or minimalist watermelon slice designs as accent nails. Some versions go maximalist with detailed slices painted across multiple nails, while others opt for a clean, abstract approach — a hot pink base, a stripe of green at the cuticle, and three or four tiny black dots to suggest the seeds.

Fruit nail art in general is one of the defining motifs of summer 2026 nail trends. Nail artists describe the look as "fun, summery, and a great conversation starter." It works particularly well on short to medium nails where the design remains crisp and readable.

On Pinterest, watermelon nail art sits firmly in the "cottagecore meets summer aesthetic" niche — the kind of design that gets saved alongside linen dresses, farmer's markets, and picnic baskets. It is cheerful, approachable, and absolutely impossible to wear without smiling.

How to get this look:

  • Paint all nails a bright hot pink or watermelon red

  • Add a thin stripe of green at the very tip of each nail for the rind

  • Use a thin detail brush to dot on tiny black seeds

  • For an accent nail, paint a white base and detail a watermelon slice in the center

  • Seal everything with a matte topcoat for a modern, editorial finish

#9 — Butter Yellow Nails 💛

Close-up of crossed hands with glossy pale yellow nails and gold rings beside a lemon and yellow flowers in warm sunlight

Butter Yellow Nails have been one of the defining nail colours of the past few years, and they show absolutely no signs of slowing down this summer. There is a reason this shade keeps coming back — it is warm, joyful, universally flattering, and it makes any outfit feel like it was made for sunshine.

The specific shade to know is not a loud neon yellow or a harsh highlighter. It is a soft, warm, creamy yellow — closer to a stick of real butter or the inside of a lemon curd tart — that sits somewhere between pastel and bright. It has just enough saturation to look bold in photos but enough softness to wear comfortably every day.

This shade is particularly stunning on medium to deep skin tones, where the warmth of the yellow creates a gorgeous contrast. On lighter skin tones, it reads as a cheerful pop of unexpected colour that draws the eye immediately.

Butter yellow works in almost every finish — glossy, matte, and chrome — but the glossy version is the most popular by far. On Pinterest, it is frequently saved under "quiet luxury nails," "summer aesthetic manicure," and "old money nail colour," which tells you everything about how versatile and elevated this shade can look despite being so accessible.

How to get this look:

  • Choose a true butter yellow — not neon, not too green-toned, not pastel

  • Apply two even coats for full, opaque coverage

  • A glossy top coat enhances the sunny, fresh quality of the shade

  • For a more editorial take, try a butter yellow base with negative space half-moon at the cuticle

#8 — Ocean Wave Nails 🌊

Close-up of hands with blue ocean-wave nail art against a blurred rocky seaside background.

Ocean Wave Nails bring the sea straight to your fingertips, and they are genuinely one of the most artistic and stunning summer nail trends you can wear. Where many summer nail trends lean into simplicity, this one invites creativity.

The typical design features deep cobalt, cerulean, or aqua blue swirls layered over a white or pale blue base, mimicking the movement of ocean water crashing against shore. The effect is organic, fluid, and deeply beautiful. Some versions include micro-glitter or pearl shimmer within the wave detail to catch the light in the way that real water does.

What makes this trend special is that no two sets are ever exactly the same. The swirl placement, colour depth, and technique vary depending on the artist — which means your Ocean Wave Nails are inherently one of a kind. On Pinterest, this look is frequently saved alongside coastal interiors, Mediterranean travel content, and blue-and-white fashion, making it the perfect companion to that aesthetic.

The trend also overlaps strongly with the "mermaidcore" movement that has been building momentum, bringing shell accents, iridescent finishes, and sea-inspired palettes together into a cohesive, year-round aesthetic.

How to get this look:

  • Start with a white or very pale blue base

  • Use a thin brush to create loose, flowing S-shaped strokes in deep blue and teal

  • Add a lighter blue highlight stroke along the top of each wave

  • Scatter fine silver glitter within the wet wave detail for a shimmering water effect

  • Finish with a glossy top coat for maximum depth

#7 — Neon French Tips ✨

Close-up of manicured hands with neon French tips and a gold ring, resting on a pink table beside a red drink.

The classic French manicure has been completely reimagined for summer 2026, and the most talked-about version right now is the Neon French Tip. Same clean shape. Same structured tip. Entirely different energy.

Instead of the traditional white arc, the tip is painted in an electric neon — think hot pink, laser orange, electric yellow, or vivid lime green. The base remains the classic sheer pink or nude, keeping the look clean and balanced. The result is a manicure that has the polish and structure of a traditional French but with a bold, playful edge that feels completely fresh.

This trend is enormous on Pinterest and even bigger on TikTok, where nail artists have been filming the transformation — a classic French becoming instantly electric — to millions of views. It works on every nail length and shape, which makes it one of the most accessible bold nail trends of the season.

It is also the perfect solution for anyone who loves the structured look of a French manicure but finds the classic white tip too safe or predictable. You keep the elegance. You add the attitude.

How to get this look:

  • Apply your usual sheer pink or nude base coat

  • Use nail guides or a small brush to paint the French tip in your chosen neon

  • Hot pink and electric orange are the most popular choices this season

  • Seal with a high-gloss top coat

  • For extra interest, try alternating neon colours across different fingers

#6 — Tropical Hibiscus Nails 🌺

Hands with long floral manicure in pink, orange, yellow, green and red, over hibiscus flowers in a tropical setting.

Tropical Hibiscus Nails are the most maximalist design on this list, and they are absolutely worth every second of salon time. This look brings the lush beauty of tropical flowers directly onto your nails through hand-painted or stamped hibiscus designs, often in vivid reds, hot pinks, and oranges against a contrasting base.

The typical approach features one or two accent nails with a detailed hibiscus bloom — usually in a bold pink or red with a yellow stamens detail — while the remaining nails stay in a complementary solid colour: coral, white, deep green, or even a bright tropical yellow. Some versions incorporate small tropical leaves or abstract petals alongside the main floral for a more immersive, garden-like effect.

Nail artists describe this style as botanical realism, which is one of the biggest evolving nail art movements of 2026. The approach leans into incredibly detailed, almost painterly floral designs that look like tiny works of art rather than a stamp or sticker. When done well, each petal has depth, shadow, and highlight.

Pinterest data consistently shows strong saves for "tropical nail art," "hibiscus nail design," and "vacation floral nails," particularly from March through August, making this one of the most seasonally relevant searches of the entire summer.

How to get this look:

  • Apply a solid coral, white, or deep tropical green base to all nails

  • Use a fine detail brush to paint a hibiscus bloom on your ring finger and thumb

  • Layer the petals in two shades — a bright base and a deeper shadow tone — for dimension

  • Add a tiny yellow or white stamen detail at the centre

  • Seal with glossy top coat for a vibrant, high-shine finish

#5 — Seashell Chrome Nails 🐚

Close-up of two hands with iridescent pink manicured nails and gold pearl rings over sunlit water, glossy and elegant

Seashell Chrome Nails are one of the most visually mesmerising looks on this entire list. They catch every source of light around them — sunlight, candlelight, even the glow of your phone screen — and turn your fingertips into something that looks like it belongs in a mermaid's jewellery box.

This trend sits at the intersection of the glazed nail movement and the mermaidcore aesthetic. A chrome powder — typically in a soft pearl, iridescent pink, or aurora-shift finish — is buffed over a cured gel base to create a mirror-like, multidimensional shimmer. The colour shifts depending on the angle of the light: sometimes pearl white, sometimes blush pink, sometimes a soft champagne gold. Sometimes all three at once.

The "seashell" element specifically references the organic iridescence of the inside of a shell — that subtle, natural shimmer that has a quality no glitter or foil can quite replicate. It looks expensive because it is a technique that requires skill and proper materials to achieve correctly, which is why it photographs so beautifully and gets so many Pinterest saves.

The trend also pairs wonderfully with the "quiet luxury" and "old money" aesthetics that dominate Pinterest fashion content, making it a crossover favourite between nail art circles and fashion lovers.

How to get this look:

  • Apply a sheer white or soft blush gel base and cure fully

  • Apply a no-wipe topcoat and cure until still slightly tacky

  • Press a pearl or aurora chrome powder in with a silicone applicator or sponge eyeshadow brush

  • Buff in circular motions until the chrome fully transfers

  • Apply a glossy gel topcoat to seal

#4 — Strawberry Milk Nails 🍓

Close-up of hands with glossy pale pink manicured nails, held in soft sunlight against a blurred garden of pink flowers.

Strawberry Milk Nails are one of the most beloved nail trends to emerge in recent years, and they continue to dominate Pinterest with an almost fanatical level of saves and engagement. The look is deceptively simple — a delicate, semi-sheer pink reminiscent of strawberry-flavoured milk — but the effect is stunning.

The key to this trend is the specific quality of the pink. It is not a bold pink. It is not a pale baby pink. It is a milky, slightly creamy, translucent pink that glows softly against the skin. It sits right in the middle of the "clean girl aesthetic" nail family alongside its relatives: blueberry milk nails, oat milk nails, and vanilla chrome nails.

Nail experts describe Strawberry Milk Nails as the defining trend of the "minimalist beauty" movement — aligned with the desire for clean, "expensive" looking nails that do not require intricate art. It is a manicure that communicates effortless polish. It is the kind of nail colour that people notice and immediately want for themselves.

On Pinterest, this trend has been consistently viral for over a year, crossing into every age group and nail shape preference. It is particularly stunning on almond and oval shapes, where the soft translucency of the colour works with the elegant shape of the nail.

How to get this look:

  • Choose a sheer, milky pink — not opaque, not too sheer

  • Apply three thin coats to build that soft, glowing depth

  • A high-shine topcoat is essential to achieve the signature luminous finish

  • Optional: add a single coat of chrome powder in warm rose gold for a "strawberry glaze" effect

#3 — Sunset Ombre Nails 🌅

Hands with long pink-to-orange ombré nails and rings held up against a glowing ocean sunset.

Coming in at a very deserved number three, Sunset Ombre Nails are one of the most dramatic and visually striking trends of the summer. These nails do not just suggest summer — they bottle it. They put a whole summer evening on your fingertips.

The typical palette moves through hot pink, coral, orange, and sometimes a sliver of gold or soft yellow at the tip — mirroring the exact colour progression of a warm-weather sunset over open water. The blend is soft and seamless, with each colour melting into the next rather than showing any hard lines.

Nail artists particularly love this design because it offers so much creative freedom within a clear visual concept. You can lean into cooler sunset tones with magenta and violet. You can go warm and golden with amber, peach, and champagne. You can take it tropical with neon orange fading into electric pink. The concept is universal; the execution is endlessly customisable.

On Pinterest, this trend sits perfectly at the intersection of "vacation nails," "beach aesthetic," and "summer nail art inspiration" — three of the biggest summer nail search categories on the platform. It is consistently one of the most re-pinned nail designs from May through September every single year.

Nail experts note that this look is particularly stunning on sun-kissed skin, where the warm ombre tones create a glowing, harmonious visual effect with tan skin and gold jewellery.

How to get this look:

  • Use a makeup sponge to blend at least three ombre shades onto the nail

  • Layer your darkest colour (hot pink or magenta) at the base

  • Blend coral in the centre, then orange toward the tip

  • Use gentle dabbing motions with the sponge for a seamless gradient

  • Clean up edges with a thin brush dipped in acetone, then seal with glossy top coat

#2 — Coastal Grandmother Blue Nails 🌊

Close-up of a hand with pastel blue nails, rings and pearl bracelets, held over a seaside table with flowers and ocean view.

The Coastal Grandmother aesthetic has taken over Pinterest, TikTok, home decor, fashion, and now nails — and Coastal Grandmother Blue Nails are firmly claiming the number two spot on this list for very good reason. This is the trend that perfectly bridges the gap between timeless elegance and playful summer freshness.

The specific blue in question is a soft, muted, slightly powdery medium blue — think cornflower, dusty sky, or a soft Pacific Ocean tone that is neither too bright nor too faded. It has depth and character without being loud. It is the kind of blue that looks equally at home on a weekend in the Hamptons as it does at a weekday brunch or a summer garden party.

Nail artists describe this shade as a "cool, serene" choice that adds a refreshing twist to the classic summer manicure rotation. It works in almost every finish — creamy matte, soft jelly, glossy opaque — and looks particularly beautiful on short, clean shapes like square or squoval.

On Pinterest, "coastal grandmother nails" as a search term exploded in 2025 and has continued to grow into 2026. The aesthetic resonates because it represents a certain kind of effortless, sophisticated calm — and this particular blue embodies that feeling completely.

How to get this look:

  • Choose a soft, dusty blue — avoid anything too electric or too grey

  • Apply two clean coats for full, even coverage

  • A glossy finish gives it a fresh, summery quality

  • A creamy matte finish gives it an even more sophisticated, elevated edge

  • Pair with white or neutral outfits for full coastal grandmother immersion

Shop This Look:

#1 — Glazed Lemonade Nails 🍋

Close-up of manicured hands with glossy yellow nails and a gemstone ring, beside lemons and a pale drink in warm sunlight.

And here it is. The undisputed number one. The nail trend that is absolutely everywhere on Pinterest right now and shows absolutely zero signs of stopping.

Glazed Lemonade Nails take two of the biggest nail movements of the moment — the glazed chrome finish and the citrus yellow colour palette — and fuse them together into something that feels completely fresh, completely of-the-moment, and completely irresistible.

The look starts with a soft, warm lemon yellow base — that same creamy butter shade you saw at number nine — but here it is elevated with a chrome or glazed topcoat finish that gives the nails a luminous, almost edible quality. They literally look like they have been dipped in liquid lemonade and left to set. Under summer sunlight or direct lighting, they glow.

This trend builds on the legacy of the glazed donut nail phenomenon — the semi-sheer, chrome-dusted look that went viral across social media platforms — but adapts it for the season by anchoring it in a warm, summery yellow rather than the classic nude or pink base. The result is something that is unmistakably summer, unmistakably 2026, and unmistakably beautiful.

Hailey Bieber already put her stamp of approval on the broader lemon nail movement, describing citrus nails as inherently adaptable to different tastes — bold with larger accents for the daring, or clean and minimal for those who prefer understated looks. The glazed version sits right in the middle: impactful but wearable, statement-making but never overwhelming.

Pinterest saves for "glazed lemonade nails," "lemon chrome nails," and "glazed citrus manicure" have been climbing consistently since early spring, and right now this look is at its absolute peak. It is the nail trend of summer 2026.

How to get this look:

  • Apply two coats of a soft, warm lemon yellow or butter yellow gel polish and cure

  • Apply a no-wipe chrome-compatible topcoat and cure until slightly tacky

  • Buff a gold or champagne chrome powder over the surface using a silicone tool

  • The chrome should enhance the yellow rather than overpower it — aim for a golden glow, not a full mirror finish

  • Seal with a clear glossy topcoat

  • For extra lemon freshness, choose a chrome powder with a slight warm gold shift rather than cool silver

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the most popular summer nail trends on Pinterest right now? The top trends dominating Pinterest this summer include Glazed Lemonade Nails, Coastal Grandmother Blue Nails, Sunset Ombre, Strawberry Milk Nails, and Seashell Chrome finishes. Soft chrome glazes and milky sheer finishes are the dominant techniques across multiple trends.

2. What are glazed lemonade nails? Glazed Lemonade Nails combine a soft butter yellow or lemon base with a chrome or glaze topcoat that gives the nails a luminous, golden, almost edible finish. The look is inspired by both the citrus yellow nail colour trend and the viral glazed donut nail aesthetic.

3. How do I achieve strawberry milk nails at home? Start with a sheer, milky pink polish — not fully opaque, not too translucent. Apply two to three thin coats, building softly. Finish with a high-shine glossy topcoat. For extra depth, lightly buff a rose gold chrome powder over the still-tacky topcoat before sealing.

4. Are aura nails hard to do at home? Aura nails require a little practice but are very achievable at home. Use a small, clean brush or a makeup sponge to blend two complementary shades together in a soft, hazy gradient. The "blooming gel" technique used in salons creates the most seamless effect but is not essential for a beautiful result.

5. What nail shape works best for summer 2026 trends? Most of the trends on this list work beautifully across multiple nail shapes. That said, almond and oval shapes are particularly flattering for soft, dreamy trends like Strawberry Milk and Pink Aura Nails. Square and squoval shapes look stunning with Coastal Blue and Butter Yellow. Short nails handle Watermelon Art and Milky White brilliantly.

6. What is the coastal grandmother nail trend? Coastal Grandmother Blue Nails are a soft, powdery, mid-tone blue manicure inspired by the broader coastal grandmother aesthetic — a Pinterest and TikTok movement built around effortless, classic, nautical-influenced style. Think cornflower blue, dusty sky tones, and soft powder blues.

7. Are neon French tips appropriate for work? Absolutely. Neon French Tips keep the clean, structured shape of a traditional French manicure, which reads as polished and professional. The neon colour at the tip adds personality without being distracting. In most workplace environments, this reads as stylish rather than unprofessional.

8. How long do chrome nails last? When properly sealed with a gel topcoat, chrome nails can last two to three weeks without significant chipping or fading. The key is using a no-wipe topcoat as the chrome adhesion layer and sealing completely with a clear gel coat after the powder is applied.

9. What is the best nail polish brand for summer shades? Several brands consistently perform well for summer nail trends: OPI for classic polishes in a huge range of shades, Beetles and Modelones for affordable gel sets, Essie for soft pastels, and Zoya for clean formula polish in bold seasonal colours. All are widely available on Amazon.

10. Can I achieve salon-quality nail art at home? Yes, with the right tools and a little patience. Detail brushes, nail guides for French tips, sponge tools for ombre blending, and chrome powder applicators all help bridge the gap between DIY and salon results. Following tutorial videos on YouTube and TikTok for specific techniques makes a significant difference. Start with simpler looks like Butter Yellow or Milky White before progressing to Ocean Waves or Hibiscus Art.

Episode of the Week

That Love Podcast presents: American Bollywood — Episode 1: His Name Is Miles Pires Shah

Format/Genre: A warm, cinematic coming-of-age audio rom-com and romantic audio drama about first love, impossible dreams, Bollywood dancing, friendship, family, and finding the courage to finally be seen.

Logline: When bookish high-school senior Izzy Lopez learns that Miles Pires Shah — the boy she has secretly loved for years — is leaving town in just eight weeks, she decides that confessing her feelings is far too simple and instead creates an outrageous plan to learn Bollywood dancing and win his heart before time runs out.

Izzy Lopez has been completely, inconveniently in love with Miles Pires Shah for years, but she has never found the courage to tell him. When her best friend Selena reveals that Miles’s parents have separated and he will soon be moving to Florida with his mother, Izzy suddenly has just fifty-six days to stop being the girl watching him from a distance and become someone he might finally see.

After some highly questionable reconnaissance, Izzy discovers that dancing — and Bollywood in particular — connects Miles to his mother, his childhood and a part of himself that means far more than she realised. That discovery inspires an extraordinary plan: learn Bollywood choreography, perform at the school prom and show Miles exactly how much he means to her. There is only one small complication — according to almost everyone unfortunate enough to watch her try, Izzy Lopez is catastrophically bad at dancing.

Rejected by teacher after teacher, Izzy refuses to surrender and eventually finds her way to Gloria Okafor, an experienced dance teacher who asks her a much harder question than whether she can dance: why does she want to dance at all? Izzy may not have the answer yet, but for the first time in her life she is doing something that genuinely scares her — and perhaps that is where this love story really begins.

American Bollywood Episode 1 launches a funny, heartfelt audio romance about first love, teenage courage and the ridiculous things we are sometimes willing to do for the person who makes our heart beat differently.
