When a ruthless figure steals a billion-dollar fortune, the group is sent after it, turning what sounds like a straightforward retrieval mission into a dangerous game involving deception, shifting loyalties and survival.
Ritchie is working in familiar territory here: capable criminals, complicated schemes, expensive locations and characters who may know considerably less about the plan than they think they do. Gyllenhaal previously worked particularly well with Ritchie on The Covenant, while Cavill’s combination of deadpan charm and physical presence feels perfectly suited to this kind of slick action movie.
The only reason I’m putting In the Grey at No. 7 is practical rather than creative. Prime Video has an official title listing, but I would still keep an eye on the UK platform before publication because its September 9 subscription-streaming date has been less consistently confirmed than the other Prime Originals in this ranking.

Francis Bourgeois joins James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, the creators behind the hugely popular YouTube motoring channel Throttle House. The new six-episode season sends them across the Angolan desert in track cars, into Malaysia’s car culture and eventually to California, where they test high-performance machinery while continuing the series’ tradition of making questionable decisions with extremely expensive vehicles. The challenge is obvious. Clarkson, Hammond and May weren’t simply presenters reading scripts about cars; their friendship and constant irritation with one another became the entire emotional engine of the show. Bourgeois, Engelsman and Holland therefore need to create their own chemistry rather than attempting impressions of the men they replaced.
I’m cautiously excited because Throttle House already understands the relationship between genuine car knowledge and comedy. If the new trio can turn their adventures into friendship rather than simply spectacle, The Grand Tour may actually have another life.
Who should watch it: Motoring fans, Top Gear viewers, Throttle House followers and anyone curious about one of television’s boldest presenter changes.

Her wealthy family believes she is studying law, but Alma is secretly pursuing filmmaking, giving her a double life that becomes harder to maintain when she meets Vadim Arcadi, a solitary twenty-year-old student carrying his own difficult past. The pair are forced to collaborate on a student film, irritation becomes attraction and their relationship begins growing just as outside secrets threaten both of them.
Vittoria Di Savoia and Lucas Barski play Alma and Vadim, while Manon Gaurin directs. Prime Video has confirmed that the film arrives worldwide on September 18 in more than 240 countries and territories, which also makes it one of the month’s easier releases to recommend internationally. Amazon News

Ester Expósito plays Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a wealthy Spanish businessman whose apparently perfect New York life collapses when she is kidnapped and then mysteriously released. Her father responds by assigning Sebastian Moore, played by Hugo Diego García, as her personal bodyguard, immediately placing two people with very different ideas about independence inside unavoidable proximity.
Marfil resents the restriction, while Sebastian is determined to maintain professional distance. Naturally, that professional distance begins experiencing structural failure as the pair return to Spain and the danger surrounding Marfil becomes more complicated than either expected. The attraction here is obvious: bodyguard romance, danger, wealth, secrets and two people insisting they absolutely should not become involved. Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent romance; you just need to execute the trope with enough chemistry.

The London setting is what makes me particularly interested. A chase movie becomes considerably more immediate when recognisable streets, Underground stations and crowded public spaces turn into obstacles rather than background scenery, and Gadot’s physical action experience should fit the relentless momentum of the premise.
This also sounds refreshingly contained. Not every thriller needs six countries, a secret agency and thirty minutes of mythology; one woman trying to keep moving while somebody controls her next step is more than enough.
Who should watch it: Fans of Cellular, Red Eye, Run All Night, Taken and high-concept thrillers that begin quickly and refuse to relax.

The spinoff follows Neagley in Chicago, where she works as a private investigator after leaving the military. When someone from her past dies in what appears to be a suspicious accident, Neagley becomes determined to uncover the truth, using the investigative and combat skills she developed during her time in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit.
Alan Ritchson appears as Jack Reacher, but the series is very deliberately Neagley’s story. Amazon has confirmed all eight episodes will arrive together on September 16 immediately following the Reacher Season 4 finale, giving viewers a complete new action series to binge rather than another weekly wait. That timing is smart. Reacher Season 4 will still be fresh in viewers’ minds, and shifting directly into Neagley allows Prime Video to expand the world without pretending Jack Reacher needs to appear in every frame.

Reinhart plays Olive, a PhD candidate whose academic life is considerably easier to manage than her romantic one. When Olive realises her best friend Ahn has feelings for Jeremy, the man Ahn believes Olive still wants, Olive impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen to prove she has moved on.
Unfortunately, Adam is standing there when the terrible plan begins.
Tom Bateman plays Adam, and what starts as one spontaneous kiss turns into a fake-dating arrangement with rules, boundaries and supposedly practical benefits. The obvious complication is that fake relationships in romantic comedies have approximately the same success rate as announcing “nothing can possibly go wrong” before a horror movie.

The most important ingredient will be Reinhart and Bateman’s chemistry. Hazelwood’s novel became popular because readers became invested in Olive and Adam slowly recognising that their arrangement feels considerably less artificial than either wants to admit, so the movie needs the awkward silences, small gestures and tension to work.
This is also probably September’s strongest social-media release. Fake dating remains one of romance’s most searchable tropes, Ali Hazelwood has an enormous readership and Prime Video has increasingly become a home for glossy adaptations aimed directly at online romance communities.
That combination puts it narrowly above Neagley for me. If the adaptation gets the chemistry right, The Love Hypothesis could easily become one of Prime Video’s biggest romance movies of 2026.

Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland aren’t merely launching a motoring show; they are inheriting a series whose identity was built around three specific personalities. If they make the format their own rather than trying to recreate the past, this could become one of September’s biggest surprises.
But The Love Hypothesis remains my No. 1. It combines a massive romance readership, an extremely popular trope, strong casting and Prime Video’s growing appetite for book adaptations into one release with obvious breakout potential.
